Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)Finale (Hush, Hush #4)

  Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

Aiden POV – The Brew by J. Armentrout

The Brew
My face hurt from keeping up appearances and smiling through conversations I didn’t give a
damn about and introductions to other pure-
 bloods I’d already forgotten.
This was the last place I wantedto be, but if I ran off too soon, people
important, powerful people would start to ask questions.
A member of the Council said something, and I nodded, having no idea what he’d said. All Icould think about was Alex… on the
Brew and left alone with Seth. I
didn’t trust any man with two eye
sto do right in that
situation. Alex would be…. I couldn’t finish the thought.
I wasn’t sure I could even trust
myself in a situation like that. But Seth had sworn that he would look after her.....

Deity (Covenant #3)

Deity (Covenant, #3)"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate..."

Like the previous books on this series this one was absolutely engaging, sexy and utterly romantic.
Alex has grown up a bit, we get to see glimpses of her true reckless self but that's not all. We get to see a totally different side of Aiden and Seth, we see the plot taking shape and I am already dreading the approaching end of this series.
I could constantly read these books and never get tired of them. Aiden is blissfully perfect and him being so approachable takes the whole story to epic dimensions. I'll stop now cause I don't want to be spoilerish but GODS!!!!!! Valentines day is never ever going to be the same for me ;)

House Rules – First Chapter

It was like a scene from a divorce: belongings divided into piles; books labeled with one owner’s name or the other; and everyone emotionally exhausted. But in this case, there was no breakup. Not of the human variety, anyway. This was more of a secession. A declaration of independence.
It was a rebellion, and the golden-haired vampire next to me was leading the charge. Ethan Sullivan, the unofficial co-Master of Chicago’s Cadogan House, and my boyfriend.
That was still a strange thing to say.
Ethan, looking exceptionally handsome in black pants, a button-down, and a black tie, examined a slim, leather-bound book.
“This one belongs to the GP,” he said, glancing at the spine. “The Metamorphosis of Man,” he read. “From Opposable Thumbs to Descending Fangs.”
“That’s an awful title,” I said.
“It’s their awful title now.” Ethan’s words were humorous, but the tone in his voice wasn’t. The entire House was nervous, the building fogged with magical tension as we waited for the final countdown: Seventy-two hours remained until our official split from the Greenwich Presidium, the European council that ruled American vampire Houses, and the pendulum swung over our heads like Damocles’ sword. The GP’s members were traveling to Chicago for the sole purpose of formally expelling the House—of breaking up with us in public.

The Navy Seal's Promise review

The Navy Seal's Promise
With only 48 hours back on home soil for Christmas, United States Army Corporal Saskia Cullen is desperate to spend every minute with her young son. So when heavy snowfall closes JFK airport and she misses her connecting flight, she’s devastated. Until Navy SEAL Luke Gray offers to keep her company… and then personally finds a way to get her home.

Luke is back in the US on leave, waiting to hear the details of his next mission, and Saskia proves to be a pleasant distraction. And when he hears that she needs to get home to see her son, he’s prepared to do anything to help the sexy single mom. Trouble is, he hadn’t planned on falling for anyone, let alone a beautiful soldier about to return overseas.

Short and utterly romantic. Luke was yummy, the characters were very natural and straightforward, they both had a past. I got all emotional with some bits, especially the ones related to her son....being a mom myself makes me weep when I read about sad little boys.

The Casual Vacancy Review

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. RowlingIt was hard at the beginning, too many names, backgrounds, relationship but after a while I became more immersed in their lives and started having my heart ripped to pieces. Robbie broke my heart all through the story, I am well aware that these things are real, they happen every single day and the only thing that prevents us from witnessing is that we don't have a "Fields" nearby. The ending was like a low blow...I couldn't actually read because my eyes were clouded and  my heart was with those two, who never ever had a sense of normalcy but had each other.

The Casual VacancyWhen Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils...Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #1)

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1)Published over ten years ago by Ace, Guilty Pleasures marked the debut of a series that was destined to grow from cult favorite to a major New York Times bestseller. Now, for long-time Anita Blake junkies and newfound fans, Guilty Pleasures makes its trade paperback debut. Readers will learn how Anita Blake started raising the dead-and killing the undead. And how she met Jean Claude, the master vampire destined to become not only her biggest nemesis, but her greatest lover...

I couldn't connect with the characters, anything seemed to be happening and lots of things were happening, weird, I know, it is like, she goes off to have some fresh air and she ends up bringing up a zombie while being threatened and then regrets raising the zombie because they were being mean with it...all that in a matter of a few pages but even if it does sound exciting the whole thing was just....that....inconsistent.

JUST FOR NOW by Abbi Glines. Book #4 in the Sea Breeze series

Prologue
“Well if it ain’t lil’ Manda all dressed up and coming out to play.”
The water I’d been sipping chose this moment to strangle me. Covering my mouth to muffle my hacking cough, I turned away from the warm breath against my ear. I had shown up here tonight for one reason: to see Preston Drake. Wasn’t it just my luck that when he finally decided to notice I’m alive, I started coughing up a freaking lung.
Preston’s amused chuckle as he patted my back didn’t help my humiliation any. “Sorry Manda, I didn’t know my presence would get you all choked up.”
Once I was able to speak again, I turned around to face the guy that had been making a grand appearance in my late night fantasies for a couple years now. All the primping I’d suffered through so that I looked irresistible was pointless. Preston was grinning at me like he always did. I
amused him. He didn’t see me as anything more than the innocent little sister of his best friend, Marcus Hardy. It was cliché.  How many bad romance novels had I read about the girl falling helplessly in love with her brother’s best friend? Countless.....

Here is a new sneak peek
I started to respond when Dewayne’s eyes widened and he let out a low whistle. I followed his gaze and almost swallowed my damn tongue.
Amanda was here. Wearing a short white clingy dress. Her long tanned legs looked even longer with the bronze high-heeled sandals she was wearing.  Her silky blond hair was pulled up on her head but several curls had fallen loose and brushed her bare neck and shoulders. Ah, hell.
“Is she with Jason Stone? Fuck, I hope not.  Marcus is gonna be pissed.” Dewayne’s words slapped me in the face. I tore my eyes off her and looked to see whose arm it was she was holding onto. Jax Stone’s brother was smiling down at her saying something. He was making her laugh. She was gazing up at him like he was fascinating. Fuck. A red haze settled over my vision and I started to move. A hand clamped down on my arm and jerked me back.
“What the hell are you doing?” Dewayne’s hard tone surprised me.  What was I doing?
            “I, he, she… I don’t know.”
I didn’t look back at Dewayne. I couldn’t explain that asinine answer. Instead, I turned to the bar tender. “Make that a double and keep ‘em coming.”

The Time Of My Life by Cecelia Ahern

The Time Of My Life

The Time Of My Life
Awesome! Cecelia Ahern's magic touch is always heartwarming. I love every single word she writes.

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1)

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld #1)

Elena Michaels seems like the typically strong and sexy modern woman, She lives with her architect boyfriend, writes for a popular newspaper, and works out at the gym. She's also a werewolf.

Elena has done all she can to assimilate to the human world, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must recon with who, and what, she is in this passionate, page-turning novel.

It was a revelation, I am not a fan of werewolves books ut a friend of mine was so eager that I caved in...I am grateful I did because there are a few unforgetable things of this book.
Elena's attitued was not a thing I enjoyed, the whole I want you but I hate you thing was driving me nuts but  Clayton, oh dear god Clayton!
I give it a high 5 starts because it is original, fast paced, engaging, it has some action, lots of human (werewolves) interaction and it is so believable that I am absolutely certain that there are weres out there.

While It Lasts

While It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #3)Maybe driving home after a few (or more) shots of tequila had been a bad idea, but hell, he did it all the time. The cops had to have been freaking bored to have pulled him over. He wasn’t even swerving! That’s Cage York’s story and he’s sticking to it.

Unfortunately, his baseball coach isn’t buying it. Cage has a free ride to the local junior college for baseball -- or he did, until he’d gotten a DUI. Now, Cage has to decide: does he drop out and give up his dream of getting noticed by a college in the SEC, and possibly making it into the Major Leagues -- or does he give in to his coach’s demands and spend his summer baling hay?

Eva Brooks planned out her life step by step when she was eight years old. Not once over the years had she lost sight of her goals. Josh Beasley, her next door neighbor, had been the center of those goals. He’d been her first boyfriend at seven, her first kiss at ten, her first date at fifteen, and her first tragedy at eighteen.
The moment she’d received the phone call from Josh’s mother saying he’d been killed along with four other soldiers just north of Baghdad, Eva’s carefully planned life imploded in the worst way possible.

Cage isn’t real happy with his closet-sized bedroom in the back of a foul smelling barn, or his daily interactions with cows, but he knows that if he doesn’t make his coach happy then he can kiss his scholarship goodbye. Only a sick and twisted man would decide his punishment was to be working on a farm all summer. No hot babes in bikinis waiting to meet a Southern boy to make her vacation complete. Just him and the damned cows.

Oh -- and an uptight, snarky brunette with the biggest blue eyes he’s every seen. But she doesn’t count, because as hard as he’s tried to charm her out of her panties - he’s pretty sure she’d rather see him hung from the rafters than let him get a taste of her pretty little lips.

 3.5 Stars to be honest.

this series started with Breathe which I loved, it was YA Adult all the way but it had/has Abbi' s unique touch, Jax was the most delicios character I had read for a while. then it was Because of Low, it was a little bit "spicier" and now this one was more one of the "Vincent Boys" series than the previous two, it was sexy as hell!

I liked it and read it in a couple of days shich shows how keen on it I was, I missed some of Jax's romance, some heroic moment, somme utterly romantic bit that showed that they were more than a piercing and a pair of tiny shorts.

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires, #6)

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6)

Turned into a vampire against her will, twenty-eight-year-old Merit found her way into the dark circle of Chicago’s vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye—and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined. And not all the secrets she learned were for sharing—among humans or inhumans. Now Merit is on the hunt, charging across the stark American Midwest, tailing a rogue supernatural intent on stealing an ancient artifact that could unleash catastrophic evil on the world. But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he’ll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed.

No rules apply. No lives spared. The race is on.

I wasn't impressed at first, I thought we were going to get back in time and Merit was going to fight the evil and Ethan was back to being his jerk self...I am happy to say that many things have changed along the book and that a huge new plot can be seen on the horizon....that said, I am counting days for the next one!

While It Lasts Chapter One

Eighteen months later…

Chapter One

Cage

“Thanks for giving me a ride,” I said, reaching for my duffle bag holding my entire summer wardrobe.
“I did it for Low,” Marcus Hardy reminded me for the second time. My best friend was a chick— a smoking hot chick. Marcus, her fiancé, was an elitist ass at times but I dealt with him; had to if I wanted to keep Low in my life. All that mattered was that he understood that Low walked on fucking water. As long as he kept that in mind and treated her as such, I could live with the prick.
“I never questioned that,” I replied with a smirk, pulling the straps of my bag up on my shoulder.  Turning my attention from Marcus, I looked at the large white and tan farmhouse in front of me. It was surrounded by miles and miles of green grass and a helluva lot of cows— my purgatory for the entire summer. Glancing back at Marcus I nodded and started to close the door. I knew he was ready to get back to Sea Breeze where Low was waiting on him. No one wanted to be stuck in this fucking cow town.
“Cage. Wait,” Marcus called out before I could completely close the truck door. Slowly, I opened it back up and arched an eyebrow in question. What else could Marcus want with me? He’d barely spoken to me on the hour ride up here.
“Don’t screw this up, okay. Stay sober. Don’t drive a car until you get your license back and try not to piss off your coach’s brother. Your future is riding on this summer and you’re upsetting Low. I don’t want her worried about you. Think about someone other than yourself for a change.”  Well hell, I’d just got a parental lecture from Marcus fucking Hardy. Wasn’t that sweet?
“I know what happens if I screw things up, Marcus. Thanks for the reminder though.” I let the sarcasm drip from my voice.
Marcus frowned and started to say something more before just shaking his head and putting his truck in reverse. Conversation over. Good. The guy should learn to mind his own damn business.

I slammed the door and turned my attention back to the house while Marcus’s tires spun out of the gravel drive. Guess I’d better go meet my warden for the rest of the summer and get this party started.  All I had to do was make this guy happy. I’d take care of his cows and do manual labor for two and a half months then my coach wouldn’t kick my ass off the baseball team. The DUI, he’d had to bail me out of jail for, would be forgotten and my baseball scholarship would remain intact. I only had three problems with this plan:
1.     No girls.
2.     I hated manual labor
3.     No girls.

Onyx by Jennifer AWESOME Armentrout...

Onyx (Lux, #2)Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Jennifer Armentrout NEVER disappoints and even though I am not still done with the book I can tell you that I am sure I will be craving for more once I get to the end...I absolutly ADORE Daemon in this new book, I didn't like him THAT much in the first one of the series "Obsidian"
but hell, he does rock in this one!

Jennifer Armentrout...I worship you!

Brimstone by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Brimstone (Pendergast, #5/Diogenes, #1)Agent Pendergast returns in a new suspense thriller from New York Times bestselling authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere....and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered-their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death-the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due. Teaming with Police Officer Vincent D'Agosta (The Relic), Agent Pendergast is determined to solve this case that appears to defy everything except supernatural logic. Their investigation takes them from the luxury estates of Long Island to the crumbling, legend-shrouded castles of the Italian countryside, where Pendergast faces the most treacherous and dangerous adversary of his career.

I've read 3 Pendergast books so far and I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first two...I'm going to read the other two books in the series and see if it gets better. Two Pendergasts could be really challenging, one good, one evil.....

The first teaser from WHILE IT LASTS

My phone started ringing in my pocket and I pulled it out to see Low’s name lighting up the screen.
“Hey baby,” I replied backing up and sinking down onto the bed. Surprisingly the mattress wasn’t bad.
“So how is everything? Are they nice?” Just hearing Low’s voice made me feel better. Not so alone.
“I’ve only met the guy’s daughter and the next door neighbor.”
“Oh, so there’s a farmer’s daughter?” the teasing tone in Low’s voice made me chuckle. Yeah, there was a farmer’s daughter alright but it wasn’t what Low was thinking.
            “There
’s a farmer’s daughter but she hated me on sight. Crazy I know and, to think, I thought it was impossible for a female to hate me until after I bagged her then forgot her name in the morning.”
“She hates you? That’s… odd.” Low’s voice trailed off like she was in deep thought.

While I was supposed to be reading....

While I was supposed to be reading "Hounded" and failing miserably on getting into it I started and finished in a record time two books, they were nice and easy, romantic and compelling.

The Vincent Brothers (The Vincent Boys, #2)He may have given her up without a fight, but Sawyer Vincent is far from over losing the girl he’s loved all of his life. Instead of giving up his best friend and the girl he thought he’d spend forever with, he gave Ashton and his brother Beau his blessing. However, adjusting to seeing Ashton wrapped up in Beau’s arms isn’t easy. Complicating everything even more, Ashton’s cousin Lana is in town for the summer. Sweet, kind, soft-spoken Lana, who gets under his skin. Just being near her makes him forget all about Ashton and his broken heart. Lana is everything he wanted Ashton to be except she isn’t Ashton. She lacks the backbone to stand up for herself and confidence that Ashton wears like a crown.

Lana McDaniel has lived her life in her cousin's shadow. While Lana struggled with her grades no matter how hard she tried, her mother praised Ashton's intelligence. She hadn’t been blessed with Ashton’s blond hair and flawless skin, but that didn't keep her mother from lamenting her naturally red hair and freckles. But none of that would have mattered if Ashton hadn’t always had Sawyer Vincent wrapped around her finger -- the only boy Lana wanted. Once Ashton let Sawyer go, Lana had been so sure that he’d move on. Determined to make Sawyer finally see her, she'd talked her mother into letting her spend the summer with Ashton. But Sawyer is still in love with Ashton, and Lana isn’t going to be anyone's rebound girl. No matter how yummy Sawyer Vincent’s kisses taste.

From the fantastic author of The Lonely Hearts Club and Prom & Prejudice comes a story of all the drama and comedy of four friends who grow into themselves at a performing arts high school. Take a BowEmme, Sophie, Ethan, and Carter are seniors at a performing arts school, getting ready for their Senior Showcase recital, where the pressure is on to appeal to colleges, dance academies, and professionals in show business. For Sophie, a singer, it's been great to be friends with Emme, who composes songs for her, and to date Carter, soap opera heartthrob who gets plenty of press coverage. Emme and Ethan have been in a band together through all four years of school, but wonder if they could be more than just friends and bandmates. Carter has been acting since he was a baby, and isn't sure how to admit that he'd rather paint than perform. The Senior Showcase is going to make or break each of the four, in a funny, touching, spectacular finale that only Elizabeth Eulberg could perform.
